Plenty of sun for the Med; wet Crete & western Turkey


Saturday
High pressure centred north-west of Europe brings plenty of dry weather to France, Spain & Portugal, highs 22 to 26C in the west & south-west. A few afternoon showers may break out for southern Spain. High pressure also resides over the west & central Mediterranean, bringing fair weather to Italy and the Balkans, highs up to 21C in northern Italy. A few showers possible for Greece , whilst heavy rain affects western Turkey.
A cold front drifts south across central and eastern Europe. A zone of persistent rain affects Germany, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, extending into Austria & Hungary, then followed by showers from the north, these locally frequent across Poland and the Baltic states. Fair weather but quite cool around the Black Sea, 12 to 15C. A chilly north-westerly wind affects Scandinavia, with snow showers for the north & west of Norway. Largely dry for Sweden and Denmark, highs 7 to 11C.


Sunday
High pressure brings plenty of dry weather to western Europe. A trough of low pressure may trigger local heavy showers for southern Spain. Warm across Iberia, with temperatures in Portugal climbing to 25C or above. Warm too in south-western France at 22 to 25C. Cooler for northern France, nearer 12 to 14C. Dry weather for the Low Countries, much of Germany, the Alps and Italy, with variable cloud and some sun.
A cool west to north-westerly breeze affects eastern Europe, bringing showery conditions to Poland, Romania and Ukraine, whilst the Balkans and Greece should escape mainly dry. Some heavy rain around the Black Sea. Chilly across Scandinavia, with areas of wintry showers, which may be locally frequent in northern areas. Heavier rain and snow spreads into western Norway later in the day, accompanied by strengthening winds.
