Thundery rain spreads into the Baltic

Monday
High temperatures across south & south-eastern Europe, whilst central areas will be cooler with extensive thundery rain. Reaching 33 to 38C for southern Spain, although cooler toward Biscay - staying dry, with a strong breeze for Portugal. Dry too across the Mediterranean, including Italy and Greece , temperatures up to around 35C. Isolated showers breaking out for Bulgaria and Romania, but areas near the Black Sea will be hot and dry.
Shallow low pressure over central-northern Europe brings thunderstorms to France, Germany and the Alps - some slow-moving torrential rain possible. Thunderstorms also affect west & southern Poland & the Czech Republic. Fresher conditions developing for north-western France. A few showers across Scandinavia, but also plenty of dry weather. Warm in Sweden and Finland, 22 to 25C.

Tuesday
Thundery rain extends north into the Baltic region by Monday night into Tuesday, spreading north through the day, with heavy rain breaking out widely across the mountains of Norway and Sweden. A westerly breeze affects north-central Europe, with outbreaks of rain for Germany, the Low Countries and Poland. Some rain threatens northern France, but much of the country should be dry as high pressure builds in from Biscay - warmest in the south, but not as hot as recent days, around 30 to 33C. Thundery for the Alps. Countries surrounding the Mediterranean will be broadly dry, and heat continues across southern Europe, reaching 35 to 40C in southern Spain and Portugal, southern Italy, mainland Greece and the Balkans.
