Heavy rain & snow developing for Italy & Balkans

Friday
Much of Spain and Portugal will be dry and sunny, influenced by high pressure over Biscay. Highs 20C in the Algarve. Thundery rain affects the Balearics. Low pressure develops over the central Mediterranean, bringing increasingly persistent rain to Italy, and later the northern Balkans - snow over the mountains. Rain and snow also affects the Alps. A strong Mistral wind develops for southern France and north-west Italy through the day. Much of France will see a dry and bright day, although showers are likely in the east.
A storm system which moved across northern Europe overnight will weaken and drift into western Russia through the day. Snow spreads south-east across Poland, and affects the Baltic states for a time. Early snow in eastern Germany will fade. A bright day for much of Scandinavia, also the Low Countries, with just scattered showers. Cold northerly winds bring frequent snow to northern Norway. Some snow too for Finland. Meanwhile, Greece and areas around the Black Sea stay sunny and mild.

Saturday
A dry and warm day across Spain and Portugal. High pressure builds across central Europe from the west, bringing dry weather to France, the Alps, Germany and central-eastern Europe.
Low pressure brings strong winds, heavy rain and snow to central Italy and the Balkans overnight, which will continue into the daytime for the southern Balkans, whilst Italy will improve. Northern Italy should be dry most of the day. Rain spreads into Greece from the north, although areas around the Aegean Sea should stay dry. Wet around the Black Sea, and snow affects the mountains of Romania.
Meanwhile, in northern Europe, strong south-westerly winds bring heavy rain and snow to western Norway. Rain or drizzle for Denmark and the Netherlands, spreading to southern Sweden later. Areas around the Baltic will be dry with sunshine.
