Areas of rain and snow, quieter central-eastern Europe

Sunday
A frontal system moves across north-western Europe, and colder air follows. Rain and mountain snow for northern Spain. Southern Iberia stays dry and fairly warm, up to 16C in southern Portugal. A spell of snow and rain moves across France, Germany and into the Alps. Snow and hail showers follow from the north.
Gales around North Sea coasts as low pressure moves toward southern Scandinavia. Heavy rain and snow for southern Norway. The Baltic region is dry and cold, widely sub-zero in Finland. Snow is likely to develop for southern Sweden.
Quiet weather for Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. Largely dry for Italy. A few showers in the far south. Low pressure over the Black Sea produces outbreaks of rain for surrounding coasts, and early snow for Bulgaria and south-eastern Romania, although this will clear.

Monday
Low pressure forms around the Gulf of Genoa, producing snow for the Alps, and bursts of rain for lowland areas of northern Italy. A strong Mistral wind. Heavy showers for the Balearics. Showery around Biscay, but much of France and Spain should see plenty of dry weather. Fair in Portugal. Around 15C for the Algarve and Andalucia.
Slack pressure influences south-eastern Europe, resulting in light winds and quiet weather. Some sunshine, but areas of cloud or low level fog possible. A few showers around coasts of Greece and Turkey.
A chilly westerly pattern influences northern Europe, with snow and hail showers affecting English Channel and North Sea coastlines. Scattered showers for Germany and Poland, but more frequent showers for Denmark. Low pressure over Scandinavia produces areas of snow for central Sweden and Norway. The far north stays dry and very cold.
