Snow for Romania & Bulgaria; dry central-eastern Europe

Saturday
High pressure to the west of Iberia produces a dry day for Portugal and most of Spain, although a few showers affect the Biscay coast. Highs 15C in the Algarve, but only 5C or below in some northern areas. Thundery showers for the Balearics. Low pressure centred over the Ionian Sea brings heavy rain to Greece , the south of Italy and the southern Balkan states - snow in the mountains.
Fairly high pressure over central Europe brings dry conditions to much of France, the Low Countries and Germany, although local light showers are possible. Chilly, only 2 to 5C in many places. Nearer 10C in western France. Dry for the Alps. Dry for much of eastern Europe, although some snow is possible in eastern Ukraine. A southerly pattern for Scandinavia, with damp conditions in southern Norway. Cold and dry around the Baltic, with temperatures widely near or below freezing.

Sunday
A front moves into northern Spain, bringing rain and snow. Southern Iberia stays dry and fairly warm, up to 16C in southern Portugal. A spell of snow and rain moves across France then fades. Snow and hail showers follow from the north into Brittany. Wintry showers too for the Low Countries. Largely dry for the Alpine states and most of Italy, although a few showers may linger around the far south of mainland Italy and Sicily. Low pressure moves across the Black Sea, producing outbreaks of rain for surrounding coasts, and heavy snow for Bulgaria and Romania. Low pressure moves into Norway, producing heavy rain and snow, accompanied by gale force winds. The Baltic region stays dry and cold, although some snow flurries may affect southern Sweden.
