Weer in Europa - 04-03-2018
Often Unsettled
Cold North, Mild South

Issued: 0530hrs Sunday 4th March 2018
Duty forecaster: Matthew Hugo

Very cold, if not bitterly cold late winter weather persists across northern Europe, milder further south but all areas very unsettled.

Sunday
Into Sunday and it is low pressure that dominates across much of Europe. Low pressure across the British Isles, France and down into Spain and Portugal will produce widespread rain and showers, perhaps with some wintry precipitation still across the British Isles. Low pressure is expected to bring showery conditions through the Med, to parts of Italy, while low pressure also dominate across Greece and surrounding countries with some rain and showers. Drier and colder weather is expected across Poland and some other eastern areas of Europe, while very cold weather dominates still across much of Norway, Sweden and Finland with some snow at times, along with some very low overnight temperatures too.

Monday
Into Monday and not a great deal of change is expected. Low pressure will continue to spiral away and dominate across much of France, England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland, along with parts of Spain and Portugal too. It is across much of western Europe where showers or longer spells of rain is possible through the day, perhaps with some wintry precipitation in places. An area of low pressure will also continue to move eastwards through the Med during the day bringing heavy rain to much of Italy and this then extending eastwards into Greece and perhaps rather windy here as well. The cold and mainly dry weather will, however, persist across more northern and eastern areas of Europe, remaining very cold indeed across Sweden and Finland in particular.
