Flooding risk southern France and Spain


Monday
Complex low pressure influences south-western Europe, bringing thundery bursts of rain to Spain, Portugal and southern France. Some areas dry for much of the day, but expect prolonged torrential rain around the Pyrenees from dawn, moving east into the French Riviera, bringing a risk of flash flooding. Temperatures up to 26C in northern France.
Dry for central Europe, including Germany. A lot of cloud for the Low Countries, with patchy rain possible, but mainly dry. Thunderstorms affect the far south of Italy and the central Mediterranean, but Greece and the eastern Med will be dry and sunny. Eastern Europe also remains extensively dry and warm, with high pressure in charge. Rain affects southern Norway, but the Baltic stays dry and warm with southerly winds, 20C in southern Sweden.


Tuesday
The western Mediterranean is likely to see clusters of thunderstorms, with a risk of local flooding. Meanwhile, conditions improve for much of Spain, Portugal and France. Local showers along Mediterranean coasts, but most areas dry, 20 to 23C. Thundery rain around coasts of Italy too, but mainly dry for the Adriatic.
Fair and warm for central Europe. Temperatures into the 20s for Germany and the Low Countries, although some early fog patches are possible. High pressure remains across eastern Europe, maintaining fair weather. Warm around the Black Sea and for Greece , 22 to 25C.
Scandinavia will be generally dry and mild, warmest in southern Sweden where 18C. Cloudy with a little rain for central Sweden and Finland, but fading.
