Thundery Alpine regions
Low pressure resides across Scandinavia, whilst high pressure lies around the Azores, and slack pressure influences central & southern Europe. Hot and sunny across Spain and Portugal, into the mid-high 30s or locally 40C inland. Risk an afternoon shower in northern Spain and into central southern France.
Fair weather extends widely across the Mediterranean, with plenty of warm sunshine, well into the 30s Celsius for Italy, Greece and the Balkan states. Thunderstorms developing into the afternoon over the Alps. Fresher conditions for northern France, highs 22 to 24C. Relatively fresh temperatures also extend across the Low Countries and Germany, risk of scattered showers. Mainly dry for Poland, the Czech Republic & Slovakia, temperatures ranging from 24 to 28C. Hotter in Hungary and Romania, nearer 33C, or above around the Black Sea.
Slow moving areas of rain for Norway and Sweden, mainly central-northern regions, whilst southern areas will be bright and breezy. Showery for Finland and the Baltic states.
A breezy day for Portugal, whilst hot temperatures are expected again across Spain, 35 to 38C. Dry and very warm conditions extend across southern Europe, with plenty of sunshine for Italy, Greece and the Mediterranean islands.
Thundery rain will be increasingly widespread across Alpine regions, extending from eastern France to Austria. Some thundery rain too for the Czech Republic. Hot across Hungary, Romania and the Balkan Countries, widely into the mid-30s Celsius. Fresher conditions across northern Europe. Largely dry across the north & west of France. Scattered showers for the Low Countries and northern Germany. Risk of some thundery rain in Poland as a cold front moves east. Low pressure remains across Scandinavia, bringing areas of slow moving showers, merging into longer periods of rain in northern areas. Breezy for southern Norway, Sweden and Denmark.
